I want to thank everyone for their generous donations during the past few months towards Operation Task Group Trident. This is something my parents and I decided to start after speaking with my brother, who is serving in Afghanistan. In total we have sent more than 25 boxes to Carlos and his unit within the last two months. They are all very grateful and appreciative.
Funny story about Carlos and the boxes:
In one day he reiceved 8 boxes and kept having to make trips back and forth carrying them. On the way to his building after so many boxes, he was stopped and accused of stealing boxes from other guys. They told him that "no one recieves that much mail", so he had to prove that all the boxes were his.
For his Christmas present I went around video-taping family and friends. Mom and I stood in line at Target the day after thanksgiving so that we could buy him a DVD player on sale. At the end of the video, our neighbor Vinny recorded us in front of the house, which is all decorated and set to music. Then Dad dressed up as Santa and came out of the house saying Merry Christmas to all the troops and to come home safe. I even recorded him dancing to the music. Carlos said it was great to see everyone again.
Mike and I also decided to make Carlos our Christmas Angel for the year. I told Mike that I couldn't see spending money on someone I did not know when my own brother could use some things. He agreed and so we went on a shopping spree at Costco.
In total we have sent more than 25 boxes to Carlos and his unit within the last 2 months. They are all very thankful and appreciative! I encourage everyone to keep writing and sending pictures to Carlos. It truly makes a difference.
Happy Holidays!
