Mom and I made this Easter Bunny Cottage to raffle off on Easter. The proceeds went to American Cancer Society's Relay For Life that I will be participating in on April 27th and 28th. In just less than four hours we managed to raise $70. I donated it in loving memory of our Tata, Jose L. Morales.

Happy Easter 2007!

Kickin The Year Off

This was at our Exect Team State Board Retreat
We were supposed to meet at Mesa's clubhouse but when we arrived we found out that it had been booked for a wedding. Thinking very fast Brian Birks decided to open up his house to us for the weekend. We made sure we cooked his wife breakfast saturday morning :)

Friday night at the End of the Year convention in Yuma a memeber from each chapter was given some playdough in which they had to create a trohpy that would later be judged. Of course I made mine with Dale Jr. on it :) I even took the time to make roses at the bottom. Oh and don't tell anyone, but there's a small apple juice can in the middle of the trophy lol :)

This was also at convention where I recieved an award for Jaycee of the quarter. I was surprised and also thankful. Amy Buchman is standing next me. I sometimes work in her store in Scottsdale.

Some of us were able to take a picture at this event with our National President Chris Olham who is from Arizona.

This Year Is Flying By!

This is the State Board logo for 2007
I finally got my state shirt and I must say I look pretty good in royal blue :)
So far this year I have been very busy helping other chapters plan projects in their communities and coming up with new ideas. So far I have a list of great ideas including a "Dog Wash". I have also come up with a way for the State Board to raise money. We are going to be selling wooden roses for $1.00 each. Here are a few pictures of some of the colors we are selling:
Let me know if any of you are interested. We will be selling them all year long. You can also contact me for a complete list of the colors available.
April is going to be jam packed for me. I'll be working at Country Thunder the weekend of the 13th, then the next weekend I'll be going to a NASCAR race, after that it's Relay For Life, and then our First Quarter Convention. Chandler will be hosting this one and their theme is Salsa Dancing since it's Cinco de Mayo weekend. I've arranged for Marquis (a fellow ballroom dancer and teacher) to come with his partner and teach some steps friday night. There's gonna be a surprise too! I'll tell you about it after convention...don't want to spoil it.
You might have figured it out by now but I joined a team and will be participating in this year's Relay For Life. I'm excited and can't wait for the experience of a life time.
I want to apologize to all of you too for being so busy. I know I haven't been able to make my phone calls like I used to, but I promise I am still here if you need me. I hope that you will be proud of the work I accomplish this year in the Jaycees and understand how important it is to be involved in your community. There is nothing like seeing the faces of those you've helped.
Well I better get going to bed. I wish you all a happy and safe Easter!
Te Vaya Bien,
Moni

Midnight Racing

Kachina members (one of the highest awards given in the Jaycees)

Me, Jennifer, Michelle, Lynn (behind Michelle), and Pat
The first weekend of March was the 2007 Parada Del Sol Rodeo. This Year I worked in the VIP section and had a blast. Jonathan and his family came out on Sunday to enjoy the event. Saturday was wear "pink" in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.

I know the picture is hard to see (taken with a camera phone) but this is me and Nate. Nate is 6'7" and I'm barely 5'1". With boots on the top of my hat comes to his shoulder.
Yes I am wearing PINK. I also had a pink belt on :) Those who know me well know that I don't wear pink...well I now own three articles of clothing that are pink. Guess I'll just save them for next year hehehe
I hope to post more pictures as soon as I get them.

Catching Up Still :)
- I worked at Michael's Craft Store as a Front End Supervisor during the holidays, which accounts for my lack of communication due to the fact I was always working.
- I had a set back in my education and decided to only take one class this semester and try to go in strong fall of 2007.
- At third convention for the Arizona Jaycees I was elected onto the 2007 Arizona State Board as Community Development VP. I was sent to Tulsa, OK January 4th - 7th for a leadership conference where I met numerous wonderful people from all over (including Columbia and Honduras). It was an experience I will not forget and one that encouraged me to work hard. This past weekend was our 4th Quarter/End of the Year convention in Yuma where I officially accepted my position and was sworn into office. I was also awarded 4th Quarter Jaycee of the Year. I go back to Yuma in two weeks for their Silver Spur Rodeo and then back to the valley for the Outstanding Young Farmers Awards night. Yes I have been very...ok extremely busy with the Jaycees, but I love it!!!!
- Carlos is out of the Navy as of December 23rd and will continue living in California for the time being.
- Mom and Dad will be going Tucson soon where Dad will meet his favorite author, J.A. Jance. He's already planning on which books to take for her to sign.
- Blue celebrated his 9th birthday January 27th. Yes I love my dog and he is spoiled!
- I have evidently caught an airborne virus that affects the middle ear which causes dizzyness. Those who know, I get very motion sick so it's been a constant boat ride for the last four weeks. I have seen an ENT and was put on a no salt, meat, fast food, alcohol, caffeene, or tabacco products until further notice. I also caught the stomach flu that is making it's rounds last week. The end results were going to the ER to have 3 bags of IV fluids pumped into my system and loosing 8 pounds total. Back to eating solid foods now!!!
